A Tribute to A Poet

POEM: Greenville
Author: UNKNOWN

I sat on a tall step
That laid on the front porch
With my arms a warp knees
That were bent up to my chin
For My eyes could see no further
Then Greenville
Formed with sharecrop* homes
Because I could not see no futher
I always thought Greenville
Was the end of my world.
---------------------------------

When I was a littler girl and everytime I went to use the bathroom, I sat and read a poster that had that poem on it. I use to live in a bad neighboorhood- well not that bad compared to other places-, and I always that that I was not going to stay in Greenville. I will not live in the same town for the rest of my life. So I have the mind set now to leave and never look back.

Ja!
